WHO CAN PERFORM UMRAH
The Umrah pilgrimage has great significance in every Muslim’s life; even though it is not compulsory, it is recommended to perform Umrah more than once, as you will collect the benefits in later life. Though, when it comes to who can perform the Umrah pilgrimage, there are various conditions with regards to who are able to perform Umrah. It is a wish and desire of every Muslim to visit city Makkah in order to perform all the rites and rituals of Umrah.
They should Be a Muslim
The most significant requirement is that pilgrim has to be a Muslim. This means that performing Umrah is not valid for a blasphemer and a person can be punished for doing so, such as a life span ban and deportation from city Makkah. Non-Muslims are even not allowed to enter in the boundary of city Makkah. So for performing Umrah it is necessary that a pilgrim must be Muslim.
They should Be Accountable
This means that they have to be of a particular age and they have to make sure that they know why they are performing such a holy ritual.
This particular point in a child’s development translates to the ‘age of judgment’, meaning the age at which a child is capable to take care of himself without the any kind of assistant of his or her guardians. This age is 9 years old for a girl and 7 years old for a boy. Though, newly born babies are valid to perform such pilgrimages with their parents.
They have to Be Able
A person is considered ‘able’ in order to perform the Umrah pilgrimage if they can afford to reach the holy city of Makkah and return home safe and sound. This also means that the particular person needs to have suitable lodging, clothes, no unpaid debts and sufficient money to provide for their family from when they leave for city Makkah and then return home.
Any Other Special Requests
If a woman is going to perform the Umrah pilgrimage, they are obligated to be accompanied by a mehram, a man who is unmarriageable to the woman, who is related, such as her father, son, husband or brother.
Another special request that if a person is physically not capable tp perform Umrah because of old age or sickness then they can have someone to perform the Umrah on their behalf.
